My name is Christopher Romito. Born and raised in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, I come from a small town surrounded by mountains and corn fields. I grew up playing sports, mostly swimming, and doing all things outdoors from biking to rock climbing. Later gaining interest in fitness sparked a strong interest in nutrition around my junior year of high school. This lead to a strong interest in strength sports and sports nutrition, leading to me apply to Bowling Green State University.
Originally the drive stemmed from me being underweight my whole life. I eventually started absorbing anything nutrition and fitness related to help in my journey to be "normal". Constantly setting long term and short term goals helped made me realize anything I want in life is attainable and that I could use my knowledge and passion to help others.
Now as a senior in the dietetics program at Bowling Green State University, academics are my main focus. While finishing off my bachelors at BGSU I plan to obtain as much volunteer experience as possible while also supporting myself financially. Upon graduating from BGSU in December of 2014, I plan on applying to West Chester University's Graduate Nutrition program as well as Kansas State University's distance program, with the intention of finding internships near my location.
Becoming a Registered Dietitian would allow me to be a nutrition consultant, where I feel my people skills would allow me to potentially help hundreds of people. Ultimately partnering with other health professionals, such as physical therapists and doctors, I plan on creating a business that can reach out and help as many people as possible. My personal skills developed through years working in the food service industry, where I developed personal relationships with customers while working in a high pressure environment. My ability to interact with people and read their thoughts and feelings will allow me to be an effective counselor. As someone who has had to balance being a full time athlete, a full time student, and having a job all while trying to have a social life, I've come to understand that success comes down to balance. My background allows me to understand people with financial struggles, eating disorders, and athletes alike.
